Douglas Emmett, a California-based real estate investment trust, has started construction on their expansion of the Moanalua Hillside Apartments in Honolulu. They are adding nearly 500 new units and renovating the interiors of existing apartments. Pacific Business News reported, “The permits, which were issued this week by the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Planning and Permitting, total about $8.85 million, with Unlimited Construction Services Inc. listed as the general contractor.” They were issued permits for different types of work including new foundations for the leasing office, maintenance building, guard shack and the laundry and mail building.
This expansion and complex has one and two bedroom units, including options for low-and moderate- income households. We are excited to see more affordable options in these new apartment complexes popping up all over Honolulu. It’ll be exciting to see how this building and other future projects like it turn out; we can’t wait!
