CNBC Retail announced their top ten American malls for this year and our very own Ala Moana has made the cut again this year, just barely. Ala Moana comes in at number 10, falling two places since last year’s list. The rankings are based on sales per square foot, as well as other criteria such as location, anchor tenants, and market demand. We are surprised to see Ala Moana lower on the list than last year but this can probably be explained by the new renovations. When you invest $750 million into a brand new wing, with both Nordstrom and Bloomingdales, you can expect a dip in sales during these changes. We are certain that next year, Ala Moana will rise back up on the list and with this new wing could even surpass their highest ranking.
You can check out the rest of the list here, with malls such as the Forum Shops at Cesar’s in Las Vegas and The Grove in Los Angeles topping the list.
