West Oahu’s Kapolei Golf Club was sold to Daito, a Japanese manufacturing firm, for almost $32M and continues the trend of Japanese investors interest in buying Hawaiian golf courses. Both the Hoakalei Country Club in Ewa and Pukalani Country Club on Maui were sold to Japanese investors; Hirakawa Shoji Group and Okiebisu International Inc. respectively. Pacific Business News interviewed Adam Dornbush, vice president of Honolulu-based Dornbush & Co. Ltd., on the subject, “[He] previously told PBN that Japanese investors see Hawaii golf courses as an opportunity to buy something that has an upside, a property that they can be proud of and bring clients and associates over to play a round or two. Looking ahead, he sees a continued trend of Japanese investment as well as more investors from Korea, China, and other emerging Southeast Asian markets.”
Our team sees this trend as well and is very excited by the prospects.
