Longs Drugs is opening a new store near the Aina Haina Shopping Center and the neighborhood couldn't be happier about it. Currently, the nearest drug stores are about four miles away in Hawaii Kai. There is a limited inventory of commercial-zoned properties in the area, which means that property sales are rare. The Aina Haina Shopping Center was sold in 2007 and that was the last commercial property sold in the area.
Longs Drugs purchased this property for $7.6 million from the Jehovah's Witnesses for their new store and pharmacy. As I told PBN in the article below, the Jehovah's Witnesses sold their property because they needed a smaller location closer to their members. East Honolulu is excited for this new commercial addition and I would be too, wouldn't you?
