According to West Hawaii Today, Hilton Waikoloa Village intends to convert hotel rooms from its 601 Ocean Tower to 450 timeshare units. Neighbors of the adjacent condominium complex, members of the Association of Apartment Owners of Halii Kai, are concerned with the inadequate updated special management area permit for new construction and the possible impact this will have on their properties. The proposed construction plan is forecasted to complete in about three years, and will include a road, port cochere and parking spaces.
What do you think will be the backlash on condomininium owners’ properties? Do you agree with the company’s argument on the benefits of converting to timeshares? How do you see this panning out?
